ANA SOUSA hands over 35.000 euros to the Portuguese League Against Cancer
7000 t-shirts of the ANA SOUSA brand were sold, earning €35.000 for the fight against cancer in Portugal.
On 18th December, fashion designer Ana Sousa sponsored the 70th Anniversary of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC), handing over a check for €35.000 to the Portuguese League Against Cancer, as a result of the Campaign «Um Gesto...uma Vida» (A Gesture ... a life).
The ceremony took place at the CineTeatro São Pedro auditorium, in Abrantes, where the atmosphere was one of celebration for a whole year of activities to mark the 70th Anniversary of the LPCC. Several personalities took part in the event, demonstrating the need to strengthen solidarity and build relationships between all those concerned, to overcome the difficulties that are seen in Portugal for the prevention and cure of cancer.
The Campaign «Um Gesto...uma Vida» was developed by the ANA SOUSA brand to raise funds for the Portuguese League Against Cancer. Based on the awareness and responsibility demonstrated by the ANA SOUSA brand over the years, fashion designer Ana Sousa created a T-shirt that was sold in its stores in Portugal. For each T-shirt sold, at € 19.00 each, ANA SOUSA donated €5.00 to the LPCC.
According to the designer, the goal was to create “(...) a T-shirt that would define me as a woman, a white T-shirt, to transmit serenity, to contrast with the force of the words: attitude courage, motivation, combat, fight, force, believe, overcome, grow, go beyond and life - printed on the pink ribbon, a symbol of the fight against cancer. And, of course, the yellow narcissus as the maximum expression of a flower that loves itself as the symbol of life (...)”.
For nearly five months, the “Um Gesto…uma Vida” T-shirt was on sale in the ANA SOUSA network of stores in Portugal. With the sale of 7000 T-shirts, the ANA SOUSA brand raised €35.000, which will certainly come in useful to support all women who are battling against cancer.
The donation cheque was handed over to Professor Carlos Freire Oliveira, President of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, by the fashion designer Ana Sousa, and by the Appointed Administrator of the ANA SOUSA store network in Portugal, Rute Sousa.
